I have several Snowbee Diamond 2 rods, which I am using with guests on my boat here in our Central Oregon Lakes. The Denny Richards signature 6 wt rod is great for handling those brute rainbows in Crane Prairie Reservoir. It has the backbone to punch casts through the wind, and a softer tip for absorbing that brutal initial run. The 5 weight Diamond 2 is a very good dry fly rod. I have been using them on East Lake to fish the prolific Callibaetis hatch on this lake. The rod enables delicate presentations to fussy fish in shallow water. Yet is handles some of the nice backwater rainbows in the 18-20” range with ease. I highly recommend the Diamond 2 Rods.
This rod has been amazing! I use this rod for nearly all trout fishing and haven landed fish from 5"-25" and it has never left me wanting. Plenty of flex and responsiveness in the tip and ample backbone where you need it. Construction is A+ and the styling is great as well. A previous review mentions they felt the rod was heavy but if feels comparable to high end rods to me. Customer service is top notch as well; I ended up breaking my tip section with a fishing trip coming up and Snowbee got me taken care of in time to make my trip!
Rod is amazing and shipping was quick
The rod is a little on the heavy side, but it’s got some back bone . In Pa we have keystone select rainbows and they can get some good size and the diamond 2 landed three to net with some serious bend in the rod . Once I found the right leader length it rolled the tungsten bead heads perfect . The only reason it didn’t get 5 stars is I would have liked aligning dots on the sections .
I bought the 10'3wt and LOVE the responsiveness! I use it for euro nymphing all across NY and PA, and use this rod for everything shy of Great Lakes steelhead! (That's when I use my Spectre 10'6wt). Great rod, great tube, and KILLER warranty! I love my kit, and pair it with the Onyx!
