Down and feather offers superb lightweight insulation…until they get wet. With the Nivalis Down Jacket, that’s a problem of the past.
SPECS
The Nivalis Jacket features an entirely unique construction technique consisting of an internal and external 3-layer laminated fabric and uses hidden internal stitching to form waterproof pockets of down and feather. The value of this technique is that no external stitch-line is created to allow water to penetrate into the down pockets.
The down pockets are formed using 2 layers of double-knitted tricot material and then protected, inside and out, with a thermoplastic polyurethane waterproof membrane, so the down remains 100% dry. The natural down filling contains 90% duck down, 10% feathers, with a fill power of 700 for total warmth. The waterproof membrane has a hydrostatic pressure resistance (waterproofness) of 5000mm, to keep the wearer dry and provide total wind resistance. The outer shell is a woven micro-fiber polyester fabric with durable water resistance treatment, so raindrops bead-up and run off the surface.
Inside the jacket, there is a super light woven polyester lining with a peach-skin finish for wearer comfort and two deep pouch pockets at the bottom for cell phones, wallets, etc. The main front zipper and the two hand warmer pockets zippers are waterproof and the fully adjustable 3-panel hood is made of the same insulating material as the body. For complete weather protection, there are Velcro adjustable cuffs and two internal bottom hem adjusters with drawcords for cinching

I was excited to receive this jacket as several guides in Idaho like them , however when I took it to Alaska in the rain, my coat got wet clear to the filling and took days to dry , basically I bought a new rain jacket in Alaska, so I wear it to walk my dog , also bought one for my husband to take to South America, glad he didn’t . Big disappointment for a lot of money

My boys and I have lived and worked in the ski industry for 20 years. We fish we hunt we farm. The Snowbee Nivalis hooded down coat is by far the best and warmest down coat any of us have ever owned. Rugged and tough,
They have withstood our pear tree limbs in our orchards, fish hooks in our boats and the PNW rains.
Additionally, we get constant compliments on the unique design.

My favorite jacket
I bought my Nivalis jacket about two years ago, and it is my favorite jacket. It is warmer than I expected and can be too warm. It performs in the wind, rain, and snow without a problem. I can wear this jacket as a single layer and move freely and unconstricted where I would have previously needed multiple layers just to stay comfortable. Since I bought mine, my wife, brothers, and brother in laws have all gotten one after trying mine. Now we are one big, happy, dry, and warm Snowbee reppin' family. My wife wishes it came in more colors, but hey, nothings perfect.

Water Proof - so far but not warm.
I expected water resistant and warm....but got only the water resistant half. I'm not sure if the jacket heats poorly as a result of the coating or construction. I just know that in moderately cool - not to mention cold - weather it is still cool.
...and with respect to several other reviews: How can you review a product that you haven't received or used it yet? How?

We apologize that the jacket does not fit up to your standards. We couldn't locate your order number when looking you up in our system but we are happy to offer a refund to you should you wish to return the jacket. The Nivalis has a 700 Fill Power down rating which is rated for temperatures as low as 23ºF, with a waterproof membrane designed specifically to keep the down pockets from getting saturated or clumping up when wet, which would render the purpose of the down useless. Most temperature related feedback we receive is in regards to the jacket being too warm as opposed to not warm enough, so thank you for letting us know about your experience. We welcome any and all feedback as it only can help to improve our products.
