Prestige STX Breathable Waders Design and Material


Design: The new STX range utilizes our well-proven cutting style and extensive trials of the prototype waders have shown these to be the best fitting, most comfortable waders we have ever made. Over the years we have learned that the majority of breathable wader leaks are caused by puncture damage. Needle sharp gorse or thorns can cause pin-pricks in breathable material, invisible to the naked eye, but so frustrating when you enter the water. To help avoid this, our new 2018 models feature a second layer of material where you need it most – down the front of the legs, from above the knee to the sock or boot and on the seat of the waders. This additional layer takes the overall thickness up to a class-leading 6-layers, but by utilizing two separate layers, they still retain their high breathability – unlike 5-layer materials which have very limited breathability. The twin front pockets are heat-welded onto the waders and fitted with top quality waterproof YKK pocket zippers to provide fly box, leader, or accessory pockets, that are as waterproof as possible to get. Behind these are generously-sized hand-warmer pockets for those cold spring and autumn days.

Material: We have retained our popular Soft-Touch (ST) material so liked by anglers. What sets this apart from other breathable wader materials is the outer layer, which has a “peach-skin” finish. Not only does this look and feel superb, but the finish makes it totally flexible, rustle-free, and silent.

We have incorporated our ST material into a new, unique 3-layer material, which takes breathable wader technology onto a completely new level. This top quality breathable material is a blend of 24% nylon, 59% polyester, and 17% polyurethane to provide strength and durability. The outer material has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment, rated at L10/80 – meaning it retains 80% of its DWR performance, even after washing 10 times! The inner laminate utilizes our highly reliable Vapour-Tec® breathable membrane for superior performance which provides a breathability of 4,000g/m²/24hrs and a hydrostatic water pressure resistance (waterproofness) of 15,000mm.
